Executive Director, Leveraged Finance Credit Risk Officer

Essential Functions/Responsibility Statements:

  • Responsible for risk oversight and credit approval for one or more industry verticals within the leveraged lending group, including product and credit standards.

  • Monitor portfolio performance and monitor exceptions to refocus business strategy.

  • Providing guidance to coverage partners on new credit transactions with respect to appropriate credit structures and terms.

  • Provide oversight and mentor a team of credit officers and underwriters.

  • Monitor credit approval workflows to be more effective and efficient in turnaround and quality of approvals.

  • Promote a strong and balanced risk management culture and demonstrate rigorous credit analysis in the underwriting and portfolio management process.

  • Lead execution of key projects.

  • Interacts with internal credit reviews and regulators.

  • Manage compliance with internal policies, work flow procedures, regulations.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent degree and/or work experience.

  • MBA or equivalent advanced training is preferred.


Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in leveraged lending credit.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of leveraged loan market dynamics, complex finance structures, and ability to identify risk and mitigants associated with the leveraged deals.

  • Previous approval authority required.

  • Appropriate risk appetitive with respect to size of individual underwritings, overall book deals, leverage levels and hold positions.

  • Minimum 2 years of people management.

  • Experience in a wide range of products (including capital markets, derivatives, leverage finance).

  • Industry expertise preferred.

  • Experience through multiple credit cycles.

  • Experience in remedial management situations.

  • Demonstrate integrity, independence, leadership, judgment, and ability to balance risk and reward.

  • Superior attention to details, ability to quickly focus on the key risk factors and visually present complex concepts.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of legal documentation associated with credit risk.

  • Ability to manage deal volume in a fast-paced environment and analyze the credit application and prepare written summary in a short timeframe.

  • Ability to work closely with other areas of the bank, relationship bankers, product managers, legal, loan operations.

For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $174,370-$230,000. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
